The World Series of Poker (WSOP) celebrated its 50th anniversary early this year and many players took it upon themselves to take part in the 2019 Poker festival for the chance of winning one of the 89 bracelets on offer.
The WSOP is seen as the biggest and most sophisticated poker festivals that exist today. It is open between May to July each year. Players compete to earn a very prestige looking bracelet that is recognised by poker players worldwide as the ultimate trophy. Players come from all over the world for a chance to win one of these bracelets.

  1. Phil Hellmuth
    Nicknamed ‘The Poker Brat’ is Phil Hellmuth, who is currently the most successful WSOP player to date. He has a total of 15 gold WSOP bracelets. His first win was in 1989 where he won $755,000 in the WSOP $10,000 Main Event. He has been taking part in WSOP tournaments for over four decades, with him winning his 15th bracelet last year in the $5,000 No-Limit Hold’em, where he beat his opponent Steven Wolansky.
  2. Erik Seidel
    Erik Seidel is a 60-year-old professional poker player from America. He currently has 8 WSOP bracelets to his name and is on the stretch for even more. His first WSOP bracelet was won in 1992 and the latest being won in 2007. He has earned $34.7 million of winnings since starting poker professionally, making him one of the most successful tournament players to date.
  3. Daniel Negreanu
    Daniel Negreanu is a Canadian professional poker player and has a total of 6 WSOP bracelets. He is currently 3rd in the All-Time Money List, meaning he is a highly successful poker player with plenty of winnings. He has also won two World Poker Tour championship titles.
  4. Men Nguyen
    Men Nguyen is a Vietnamese-American professional poker player, he is nicknamed “The Master” and with 7 WSOP bracelets, I am sure as to why he got that nickname. He has won over 95 tournaments and is well-known for teaching players who go on to become very successful, he gains some of his students’ winnings as a price for his knowledge.

    Phil Ivey is a poker pro from America. He has a huge, 10 WSOP bracelets in his possession. There was once a time where he was named the best all-round poker player in the world. In recent years he has not been very active in Poker but he still holds 10 bracelets to his name, making him one of the top WSOP players since 1969.
  6. Chris Ferguson
    Chris Ferguson has won six WSOP events, giving him a total of 6 gold bracelets. He is a professional poker player from America and has been playing poker since the age of just 10. He started playing poker professionally in 1994 and entered his first WSOP tournament in 1995, however, didn’t win his first bracelet until the 2000 WSOP Tournament.
  7. Doyle Brunson
    Doyle Brunson is one of the oldest professional players at 86 years old. He recently retired but has 10 WSOP bracelets that he has won in previous years. He was the first player to earn over $1 million through poker tournaments and also one of the only players to have won WSOP tournaments for four consecutive years.
  8. Jeff Lisandro
    Jeff Lisandro is an Italo-Australian professional poker player. He currently owns 6 gold WSOP bracelets, with his first being won in 2007 during the $2,000 Seven-Card Stud game, which saw him taking home $118,426 in prize money. In 2009 he became the first person to win a World Series title in all of the 3 seven-card stud disciplines in one year.
  9. Johnny Chan
    Johnny Chan is a Chinese-American poker pro. He has a massive 10 gold WSOP bracelets to show off. His first WSOP bracelet was won in 1985 and his latest in 2005. He was the first foreign national to be hailed champion at the event and was the winner for 2 consecutive years between 1987 and 1988, although he almost won for the 3rd year in a row but was beaten by Phil Hellmuth in 1989 where he came 2nd place.
